7 - Tech Mods
Tech mods are the other big customization feature in Merf. While you can't make up tech mods on the spot like Aether, you'll find they aren't lacking in customization. You only get tech mods if you play a Cyborg or a Synthman, and the amount of tech slots you get also depends on which one you pick.
As a Cyborg, you get 5 slots - one for each limb, and one for your torso. As a synthman, you get an additional slot for your head. You can find tech mods around the world or from a Modder - "trained professionals" that can install them for you, or you can try and install them yourself.
Certain tech mods can only be placed on certain body parts, so plan accordingly! Here is a table of all the possible modifications (more in the future):
| Mod | Slot | AP Cost | Effect | Desc | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt-Runner | Leg | 1 | Boost forward up to 12 tiles, but only in straight line. | Spring loaded boosters bolted onto the leg. | Mobility |
| Hook-Shot | Arm | 2 | Make an attack up to 6 tiles away, doing 3 damage. On a hit, either push the target away a tile and knock them prone or pull them right next to you. | A metal fist with rocket thrusters and a steel wire wired directly onto the bone designed to propel and then reel in. | Damage/Utility |
| Neuter-Blade | Arm | 1 | Make a melee attack, doing 1 damage. The target makes a SLICK check, and if they fail, get set on fire, taking 1 damage on the beginning of their turn, and making another check at the end of their turn. | A long retractable laser blade embedded into the forearm. | Damage |
| Juice-Box | Chest | 0 | Lose 1 HP and gain 2 AP. If you run out of HP from the Juice, you get to use your AP before you go down. | A small box with tubes plugging directly into the heart. Insert stims (or whatever drug) and slap the button on the side to inject. | Utility |
| Social-Distancer | Chest | 1 | Gain 2 Armor. Regenerate this armor with an AP or RP. | Regenerating forcefield that covers the whole body, powered by a small generator embedded in the chest. | Tank |
| Tom | Head | 1 | Use an AP or RP to learn the next action a target will take. | A robotic eye that speed analyzes targets. | Utility |
