4 - Exploration
Exploration doesn't have many rules in Merf, they are standard exploration rules: You say what your character wants to do, and occasionally you will need to make a check in order to do something difficult. However, there are some things that are important to go over, like Inspiration, Rests, and Veteran characters, which we'll go over now.
Inspiration
When the party does something cool or good for morale, the DM might hand out an Inspiration to the party. Inspiration is a team resource, so anyone can use it. An inspiration can be used to either turn a roll into a success, or make an enemy reroll. Inspiration is also given when a player dies.
Rests
Rests, besides from consumables, are the main way to restore resources.
A short rest is about 1 hour, restores 3 hp, your mana, and armor, and skill points can be used.
A long rest is a full sleep, 6+ hours, restores all your health, mana, armor, and skill points can be used, and if the sleep is comfortable, then it grants an inspiration.
Veteran Characters
While there is no traditional "levelling up" besides from just gaining skill points, there is one mechanic that works like a "level up". When your character becomes experienced enough, the DM might make it a Veteran character, granting it a +1 to all rolls, 1 extra HP, and an extra action point.
